Why I Otter...

(Tip of the hat to Dawnell for the blog post title:-)

So today, instead of catching up on all the stuff I didn't do yesterday, David and I went out to try to chase the Sacred Ibis that was seen at the Vero Wetlands. On the one hand, I'm a little bummed that we didn't see it. On the other hand, take a look below at the otter eating a Coot that we did see!! This could be one of my favorite series of pix I've ever taken. Click photos to enlarge.

Weird young Wood Stork. He had green on his beak.
Om-nom-nom-noming a Coot.
My Coot! You can't has none!
Green Heron acting all Bitterny.
Stupid Belted Kingfisher. Remains my photographic nemesis
bird for another day.
Good to see that there are at least some native Apple Snails still breeding.

  1. Just so you know - we were at the Viera Wetlands today. We informed the Viera Wetlands Coots about the demise of their Vero Wetlands cousin. They were sad .. but ... life goes on!
