Here is my latest creation that will be donated to Orange Audubon's silent auction in June. It's my first attempt at a muppet style puppet. I might do a little more finishing work, but for the most part it's complete:

Scratch Board Sketches
February 20, 2016 - This was going to be a very belated birthday gift for someone, but I chipped the scratch board taking it out of the package, so decided to forge ahead and just do this for practice.
February 2, 2017 - Ringbilled Gull
January 26, 2017 - Vultures at Dawn (alternate title: Waiting For That Tasty-Looking Old Lady With The Camera To Drop)
January 23, 2016 - Red-bellied Woodpecker in the rain.
January 22, 2016 - Hopefully you can tell what kind of bird this is. If you can't, don't tell me, it will hurt my feelings.
December 26, 2016 - Belted Kingfisher, Cocoa Christmas Bird Count.
December 23, 2016 - This is a Reddish Egret dancing (for no reason) that I did as a Christmas gift for Heather. The quote is from the Steam Powered Giraffe song, "Make Believe".
December 20, 2016 - This is a jawbone that I did as a Christmas gift for Joy.

Scratch Sketches and Why I Don't Paint
I did a few scratchboard sketches.
This is a jawbone that I did for Joy.
This is a Reddish Egret dancing (for no reason) that I did for Heather. The quote is from the Steam Powered Giraffe song, "Make Believe".
This is a Belted Kingfisher that I did for me. This has long been my nemesis bird, I had never gotten a good photo of one. Finally, on the Cocoa Christmas Bird Count, I got a good photo. This sketch is based on the photo.
Watercolor, Turkey Creek.
Watercolor, Sebastian Inlet. This is supposed to be a Brown Pelican, but I was looking at the painting after I brought it home and realized it looks more like this.

Broadmoor with the Master Naturalists
Had the honor of helping out with a Master Naturalist field trip to Broadmoor today. Here are some pix. Click to enlarge.
We got great looks at a Limpkin, it was nice to be able to compare and contrast with the immature white ibises we also saw.
Osprey carrying nesting materials.
This was a neat scene. It was nice to be able to compare the male anhinga, female anhinga, and the cormorant, which are often confused. But it also made me laugh cause it looked like they had a weird Three's Company thing going on.
This was a lifer for me. For all the times I've seen Norther Harriers before, I never managed to get a picture before. Only need 14 more to get my photographic life list to 300 now!
There might have been a pelican or two.
Reminds me of my dad's advice on counting birds. Where there are a lot of birds, just count the eyes and divide by 2.
All of the Master Naturalist students watching the white pelicans.
Our fearless leader, Heather!
And more pelicans!
There were also one or two gators out there today.
Or maybe it was 10 or 30 gators!!
You might have to squint, but there is an alligator hiding in this picture.

Breeding Bird Atlas Codes Video
For everyone who is participating in the Florida Breeding Bird Atlas project, and for those who are just really bored, I have created an instructional video about how to use the breeding bird codes. Comments are welcome. Please share with anyone who is on the project.
